BMSIS Visiting Scholar: Rajat Bhushan Gupta

Rajat Bhushan Gupta is an Astrobiologist with a background in engineering and data science with a deep commitment to interdisciplinary research and education. He is currently pursuing master’s in the biology of extreme environments from the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy. He blends technology with life sciences to explore the origins of life and life beyond Earth.

Rajat Bhushan Gupta

Rajat has over a decade of experience in Python, machine learning, and data science, having worked in diverse industries—ranging from healthcare to finance—developing custom KPIs, machine learning models, and data education programs. As a science communicator and founder of Astrobiobuzz, he makes space science accessible to students and educators, especially in underserved communities. He is passionate to bring data science and machine learning techniques to the field of astrobiology. He is invited for lectures in various organization and conferences for the same.

His current research explores the catalytic potential of melanin-metal hybrids as prebiotic systems, with implications for both early Earth and extraterrestrial environments. Actively involved in fieldwork and international networks, he is also a visiting scholar at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science and a member of NASA’s Astrobiology SciComm Guild.

Driven by curiosity and purpose, Rajat wishes to become an astronaut and inspire the next generation of scientists through education, exploration, and storytelling.
